Poor drainage was the major reason for a good deal of land in Britain being unsuitable for growing crops during World War 11. The challenge of improving drainage of
fields was met with the use of a drain
plough or mole plough, a
bullet-shaped plough that drags through the ground at a depth of around 40 cm,
leaving in its wake a small channel that allows water to drain away. Such
ploughs, while they proved to be difficult to master, were particularly suited
for areas where there was heavy clay subsoil.
HOW CAN I APPLY THE ABOVE INFO TO MY LIFE?
Fortunately our suburban block is well drained. However, two
