BRAHMI

Word for the Day

                                                                                                                                                        Robyn

BEING ME   Being a friend
Fun is what I love to have with a friend. But fun is not what gives foundation to a friendship and neither is it an essential ingredient for making a true friendship last.

A good friendship will hopefully have some of the following characteristics.
There will probably be at least one shared common interest;
There will hopefully be a genuine mutual care and thoughtfulness;
The friends should both know how to give and how to receive;
Loyalty to the other, not allowing gossip or unfair judgement should be evident;
Any jealousy, envy, bitterness or anger should hopefully be addressed;
Differences should be appreciated and valued;
And there should be honesty.

If we have some of these aspects undergirding a friendship, or if they are in the process of being developed,  and if we are also having fun with our friend, indeed we are blessed and will also be a blessing to our friend!

Moses' friend
I think that perhaps Moses' best friend was his older brother, Aaron.

Aaron was an able and persuasive speaker, whereas Moses was not eloquent, calling himself slow of speech and tongue. Hence, Aaron became Moses' spokesman, demanding from  Pharaoh the release of the Israelites from captivity to return to their homeland.

Aaron is seen giving great support to Moses on the day of a battle between the Amalekites and the Israelites. Moses stood on top of a hill with the staff of God in his hands, and while he held his hands up, the Israelites were winning, but if his hands lowered, the Amalekites were winning! Aaron was one of the two men who held up Moses' hands until sunset, keeping them steady.

Possibly the most devastating incident which occurred during their lives was the day that Moses returned to the Israelite camp from  the top of Mount Sinai carrying two tablets of stone, the engraving on them having been done by the finger of God. Moses found Aaron leading the Israelites  as they ran wild, dancing, shouting and making sacrifices before a golden calf which they had made in Moses' absence. Aaron and the Israelites were worshipping the calf rather than the living God. In his indescribable anger, Moses threw the tablets out of his hands, smashing them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.

Many people don't realize that when preparing water for medicinal herbs, there are certain precautions you must take. First, you should always use distilled or purified water to reduce the amount of chemicals and possible hazardous interactions with your herbs. You also should avoid using an aluminum kettle, as it may trigger other chemical reactions and alter the medicinal properties of your herbs. When observing cautions such as these, however, boiling water for medicinal herbs is a very short and simple task.

 I walked a different path to my friend
But my heart
Never strayed
For it stayed
Right beside.

May we always remember to treasure our friends
